Scandit, a developer of barcode scanning solutions for smartphones, tablets and wearable devices, has launched a new self-scanning solution designed to increase the ease and accessibility of mobile shopping while driving revenue and reducing costs for retailers.
The integrated solution, announced at NRF, is part of the company’s Mobile App Suite For Retail and features a patented barcode scanner.
“In 1989, Marty McFly gave us a glimpse into what 2015 might look like, complete with incredible innovations like video calling, which now is a reality that makes our lives easier and more enjoyable,” said Samuel Mueller, CEO of Scandit. “Unfortunately, some things — like pushing around a shopping cart or waiting in line to check out at a retailer — haven’t changed much at all over the past 26 years. That’s all about to change.”

The new solution allows consumers to scan products on their mobile devices as they shop. Once scanned, shoppers can add these products to virtual baskets or lists, review product information, access purchase history, receive deals and offers while shopping and utilize new payment solutions to checkout on their own devices.
