Welcome To Gifting 2.0!

Niece, neighbor, friend, boss — whoever it may be, there is always that one person who you feel is entirely impossible to shop for. For me, that person is my dad, so for this past Father’s Day, I scrambled last minute to get something for the man who “wants nothing.” I settled for a gift card to a local restaurant, which I had to sprint to before our family outing.

To make the gift card buying and giving process a little easier, Yiftee has partnered with the Town of Danville, Calif. to create the Danville Gift Pass, which also helps promote local businesses

Yiftee is a mobile app, online web service, and Application Programming Interface designed to send gifts through Facebook, email and text message. And as simple as it is for consumers to send gifts, merchants can just as easily join the program. Any business in the Town of Danville can visit http://yiftee.com/enroll_your_business to be added to the list of merchants that consumers can choose from. The gift redemption is powered by MasterCard, so as long as the company accepts MasterCard, they can successfully process Yiftee gifts.

“The Town of Danville has been searching for a town-wide gift card solution to promote local shopping, dining and gifting in our community,” said Jill Bergman, Economic Development Manager for the Town of Danville. “Yiftee’s online gifting service is the first business to provide such an opportunity, with no cost to the merchants.”

The app not only makes gift giving easier for consumers, but it also allows them to support the local community’s commerce. Giving back to neighborhood businesses can result in more local jobs, a stronger downtown district, increased home values, and better school systems by creating a more prosperous town altogether.

With access to 40 different establishments available through the Danville Gift Pass, even the pickiest people can be pleased. The pass can be purchased online at www.yiftee.com/danville, where shoppers can write personal messages and send their gifts. The Danville Gift Pass also can be used at multiple locations, so recipients aren’t restricted to just one merchant.

When consumers are ready to make a purchase using their Yiftee gift cards, they just use their smartphone to receive the gift. With apps like this, we may finally see an end to last-minute store runs and sloppy gift-wrapping. Welcome to gifting 2.0!
