Ginza Six, a 500,000-square-foot retail complex in Tokyo, Japan opening April 20, 2017, has installed StepInside, an indoor positioning system (IPS) from Senion.
StepInside is designed to help shoppers navigate the massive facility using their smartphones by showing them the shortest route to their destination. Ginza Six expects more than 20 million people to visit the retail complex each year, including many tourists who are likely to be unfamiliar with the facility.
Building management will use the data from StepInside to further understand shopper behavior and traffic flow analytics. Ginza Six will feature 241 brands including flagship luxury stores and restaurants.
Shoppers can download the free GINZA SIX mobile app developed by Tigerspike and use it:
For indoor navigation;
To receive the latest news and promotions from stores; and
To make reservations for dinner or services.
StepInside comprises IPS hardware (including enterprise-grade beacons) and software solutions from Senion’s suite of services, including analytics, wayfinding, geofencing, friend finder and tracking.
