GNC to Offer Curated Wellness Assortment in 4,000 Walmart Stores

GNC is expanding distribution for a selection of its vitamins and supplements to more than 4,000 Walmart stores and on Walmart.com. Beginning in June, GNC will offer an initial selection of men’s and women’s essential everyday vitamins, merchandised in several different formats at Walmart brick-and-mortar stores.

GNC Holdings, the retailer’s parent company, went through a “pre-packaged bankruptcy” in June 2020 that included closing 800 to 1,200 of its stores. As part of the bankruptcy plan, Harbin Pharmaceutical Group Holding Co. purchased GNC for $760 million. GNC stores were located primarily in strip centers and malls, two shopping venues that were hard-hit by COVID-19.

In 2021, GNC has focused on making its product offerings more available to consumers: in February, the retailer partnered with Shipt to offer same-day delivery of its vitamins, skincare products and fitness equipment nationwide.

“Millions know and trust our brand, and with this collaboration we can deliver the GNC experience to a whole new group of consumers,” said Josh Burris, CEO of GNC in a statement. “With retailers like Walmart in our court I’m confident our expanding wholesale distribution will continue making GNC the most trusted and recognized personal health and wellness brand in the marketplace.”
