JCPenney Launches Baby Shops In 500 Locations

In a bid to fill the void left by the Babies ‘R’ Us bankruptcy, JCPenney is expanding its baby products selection within 500 select stores, starting August 30, 2018. The new expanded baby departments will launch in time for the retailer’s annual “Baby Sale.”

The shops will feature updated graphics and signage and will offer customers baby furniture, clothing and accessories from brands including Carter’s,Gerber and Okie  Dokie. JCPenney has traditionally offered cribs, high chairs, strollers and car seats for sale online, but now these products will be available in the stores along with a range of other baby items.

“We’ve strategically chosen these 500 JCPenney locations because the majority of the stores are near a specialty baby retailer that has recently closed its doors,” said James Starke, SVP and Head of Merchandising at JCPenney in a statement.

The retailer will stock most of the products in-store so that shoppers can take them home the same day.
