Thanksgiving Weekend Sales Starting Even Before The Turkey Thaws

While retailers hype up sales for Black Friday and even Thanksgiving Day, one retail deal site suggests the holiday shopping season actually begins even earlier — on the day before Thanksgiving.

GottaDeal.com, a web site dedicated to aggregating cheap deals throughout the entire retail industry, indicated that Wednesday, Nov. 25, would be the best day to shop during Thanksgiving weekend.

The GottaDeal staff measured the number of clicks per hour on deals posted on the site’s home page, as well as sales generated through the links on the site. The results revealed that the 24-hour period starting the night before Thanksgiving has both the highest quantity, and highest quality, of online bargains.

“Many online shoppers have traditionally started their online shopping after Thanksgiving dinner,” said Brad Olson, Owner of GottaDeal.com. “We’re trying to let them know that most of the online Black Friday sales will actually begin on Wednesday night, so they should be in front of a computer, tablet or smartphone getting ready. We hear from visitors every year who woke up on Thanksgiving Day only to discover the best deals had sold out.”

Olson expects retailers such as Walmart, Best Buy, Target and Toys R Us to put their Black Friday deals online the night before Thanksgiving.

GottaDeal has an online Black Friday tracker that shows a schedule of when each store is scheduled to put their Black Friday sale online, along with lists of the items that can be ordered at sale prices.
