Party City Retail Group Names Former Petco Executive As CEO

Party City Holdco Inc. (PCHI) has named Brad Weston as CEO of Party City Retail Group, effective July 25, 2019. He will report directly to James M. Harrison, CEO of PCHI, and will oversee all aspects of the retailer’s operations.

Weston was most recently CEO at Petco, where he held a number of leadership positions from 2011 to 2018. Weston led the development of the retailer’s omnichannel platform, including the PupBox subscription service, and the launch of its private label brand. Prior to Petco, Weston was CMO at DICK’S Sporting Goods.

Party City also has been developing its e-Commerce business through a partnership with Amazon. Party City opened its own site on the e-Commerce giant’s web page following a Halloween costume-based pilot program in 2018.

Weston replaces Party City President Ryan Vero, who left the company earlier this month to join Claire’s Stores as the company’s new CEO. Vero will oversee the teen jewelry and accessories retailer as it continues building on a turnaround following its 2018 bankruptcy filing.
