Furniture retailer Wayfair, which had its roots in online-only retail but has been aggressively moving into the brick-and-mortar arena in recent years, will continue its physical expansion with a 130,000-square-foot store in Cincinnati, scheduled to open in 2027. The store, Wayfair’s second planned site in Ohio, will be located in the Center of Cincinnati retail center.
“Cincinnati is an exciting market for us, not only for its strong retail environment but also for its reach across the broader tri-state region,” said Liza Lefkowski, VP of Merchandising and Stores at Wayfair in a statement. “We’re looking forward to serving customers across Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana and helping them create homes they love.”
The Cincinnati store will feature not only furniture but décor, housewares and appliances, along with curated Wayfair Verified products and dedicated free design services. Items will be available for immediate take-home, while larger pieces can be delivered via Wayfair’s logistics network.
Wayfair already has opened stores in Wilmette, Ill. and Atlanta, and the retailer has several more brick-and-mortar locations in the pipeline:
- A 70,000-square-foot smaller-format store in Columbus, Ohio opening later this year;
- Stores in Denver and Westchester, N.Y., both slated for openings in 2027; and
- A 94,000-square-foot store at Florida’s Galleria Fort Lauderdale in late 2027.
Wayfair is coming off a strong Q1; the retailer generated $2.9 billion in revenue, a 7.4% year over year increase compared to the same period the previous year. U.S. net revenue also increased, by 7.5%, reaching $2.6 billion. Wayfair also has 21.4 million active customers as of March 31, a 1.4% year over year increase.
