PetSmart Launches Delivery for Pet Prescriptions

PetSmart has partnered with Allivet, a fully licensed pet pharmaceutical tech company, to offer prescription delivery services. PetSmart customers can now purchase pet medicine online and set up auto-ship for ongoing prescriptions.

“More households are adopting and embracing pets as part of their family,” said Mildred Munjanganja, Chief Business Development Officer of Allivet in a statement. “Allivet is excited to be a part of this growing pet ecosystem. Our goal is to meaningfully contribute to this evolving sense of family by promoting a symbiotic relationship between every valuable participant in this space including pets, pet parents, the veterinary community, retailers and manufacturers.”

PetSmart is the latest major retailers to build out its pharmaceutical delivery capabilities. In June 2021, Walmart launched the Walmart+ Rx program, which provides prescription discounts of up to 85% for Walmart+ members, while Amazon Pharmacy launched six-month prescriptions for Prime members.

PetSmart also has joined the buy now, pay later (BNPL) trend through a partnership with Afterpay. The service is available for PetSmart products as well as services like grooming, training and day camps.
