Target Adds 750 Grocery Items To BOPIS Offerings

Target is adding 750 fresh and frozen grocery items to its order pickup and drive-up services across the country. The expanded assortment will launch in the Midwest, reaching 400 stores by the end of June and expanding to more than 1,500 Target locations by the holidays.

Products available for pickup include produce, dairy, bakery and meat department items. Grocery pickup will be integrated with existing contactless pickup options, which cover more than 250,000 items with no fee, membership or minimum order required.

“The speed and convenience of our fulfillment options are unmatched across the country, and they’ve become even more critical for our guests searching for easy and safe ways to shop during the pandemic,” said John Mulligan, COO at Target in a statement. “By adding fresh grocery to the pickup services our guests already love, we’re giving them even more reasons to shop at Target. During a time when even more people are looking for different ways to get the items they need, we’ll continue to invest in making Target the easiest and safest place to shop.”

Target is building off a 275% e-Commerce sales increase in April, as well as 500% growth in BOPIS sales during 2019. The retailer is harnessing this spike in customer interest with a general expansion of BOPIS options at stores as well as via its acquisition of last mile technology from Deliv.
