GS1 US has introduced the GS1 US Certified Identification Partner Program, which was created to provide brands with a new channel for securing their GS1 product identifiers. Companies can use the program to obtain a GS1 Company Prefix to create Global Trade Item Numbers (GTINs) that uniquely identify a brand company and its products across both digital and physical retail.
Globally recognized GTINs can be used by brands to meet requirements for being carried by retailers. Additionally, a report from GS1 US found that 57% of small brands experiencing significant growth report that using GTINs/UPCs in their product listings helps customers more easily find their products online.
Seven solution providers have been certified to become part of the partnership program: Aarongraphics, Avery Dennison, InterTrade, Label Interactive Technologies, Salsify, Kwikee and Syndigo. Brands can use these companies’ web sites to generate their GS1 Company Prefix.
