Uber Debuts Package Return Service

fizkes-stock.Adobe.com

Uber has introduced a package return service that provides consumers with live tracking within the Uber app. With this extension of the Uber Connect service, couriers will pick up prepaid, sealed packages — up to five at a time — and deliver them to a local post office, UPS or FedEx location.

Uber will charge a flat $5 fee for returns, but only $3 for members of the Uber One loyalty program. In addition to package tracking, couriers will send a visual confirmation or photo of the receipt when the drop-off is completed.

The Return a Package program is available in the Uber and Uber Eats apps for customers in more than 4,950 cities throughout the U.S. Availability may vary by location, and packages sent using Uber Connect have specific monetary value limits and weight limits per vehicle type.

Uber has been expanding its offerings via retailer partnerships, most recently adding supermarket retailer Hy-Vee in August 2023 and Staples in September.
