Top Macy’s, Kohl’s And Neiman Marcus Marketing Execs Resign

The marketing departments of three major department stores are down an executive this year. First, Neiman Marcus’ CMO Wanda Gierhart announced her resignation in order “to focus on other interests.” Now, Macy’s and Kohl’s are in the same boat.

Macy’s announced that its CMO Martine Reardon will be leaving the company after more than three decades with the retailer. Reardon was appointed to her current position in February 2012. She has led all aspects of marketing, including Macys.com and the company’s advertising, social, mobile, cause and tourism marketing, special events, media planning and consumer insights and data analysis sectors for the retailer’s 730 stores nationwide.

“It is with deep sadness that we accept Martine’s resignation from Macy’s,” said Terry Lundgren, Chairman and CEO of Macy’s Inc., in a statement. “Martine is a very special executive who has come to personify the spirit, energy and integrity of Macy’s. She has poured her mind, heart and soul into making Macy’s the industry leader it is today.”

Kohl’s Executive VP of Marketing Will Setliff has also resigned from his role. The retailer has not disclosed a reason for his departure, but confirmed that his resignation will take effect immediately. Setliff joined Kohl’s in February 2014, and has led initiatives such as the firm’s sponsorship of the Oscars this year.
