Former eBay President Shares Insights On Innovation At JDA Event

Meg Whitman, former President and CEO of eBay, discussed the difficulties of managing innovation across large organizations ― and what leaders need to know to foster an environment where good ideas are cultivated, developed and executed during JDA’s annual conference in Orlando this week. During the conference she also will discuss the importance of looking outside traditional avenues to put organizations on the path to sustainable growth.

JDA Software Group’s FOCUS 2011 drew nearly 2,000 attendees to Orlando, Florida this week. FOCUS 2011 is featuring more than 200 sessions with speakers from companies including Dell, eBay, Lowe’s Companies and Meijer, among others.

Centered on the theme “Anticipate And Deliver Your Promise,” FOCUS 2011 was kicked off with a keynote from President and CEO Hamish Brewer who presented a “state of the company” address, outlining JDA’s vision for the future as “The Supply Chain Company.” Brewer discussed JDA’s growth strategy to position itself as an end-to-end supply chain solutions provider, with offerings that range from the manufacturer to the retail shelf.

2011 Real Results Awards
To honor successful customer implementations, the winners of JDA’s “Real Results Awards” will present customer success stories today, Tuesday, May 3, at the Swan and Dolphin Resort in Orlando.

Real Results Award nominees were submitted by the more than 6,000 JDA customers worldwide with deployments in progress or completed and with documented results received. Selected by a panel of JDA executives, winners demonstrated exceptional increases in sales and profits, business-process improvements and/or reductions in inventory and overall costs. Winners include Sports Authority, OfficeMax and PepsiCo.

Also during FOCUS 2011, Retail TouchPoints recorded exclusive video interviews with JDA executives and customers, including Anna’s Linens, to learn more about the supply chain issues that retailers are currently facing, and how they are using technology to enhance store efficiency. The videos will be posted to TouchPoints TV in the near future.

JDA_FOCUS_2011_2“A lot of retailers are offering free shipping [over the holidays in particular],” said Fabrizio Brasca, VP of Global Logistics, JDA, in an exclusive video interview with Retail TouchPoints. “The challenge that it presents is that, now suddenly retailers have margin pressure and are increasing transportation costs without getting the coverage that they would get from customers doing the transportation. That’s increasing the importance of applying technology to manage or mitigate that eroded margin. A lot of retailers don’t have the experience to leverage capabilities to their full potential.” (Brasca’s full video interview, which features key holiday-planning strategies for retailers, will be available on TouchPoints TV in the coming week.)
