Lightspeed POS Acquires SEOshop To Launch Lightspeed eCom

Lightspeed POS has acquired European-based e-Commerce software platform SEOshop for an undisclosed sum. The platform will power the POS solution provider’s newly launched e-Commerce platform, Lightspeed eCom.

Lightspeed eCom is now shipping in Europe, with an initial preview available immediately in the U.S. and Canada. The full version of Lightspeed eCom, as well as an integration with Lightspeed Retail for U.S. customers, is expected to launch in Q1 2016.

With the platform, independent retailers can launch their online stores using more than 100 professionally designed and customizable templates with minimal technical requirements. The e-Commerce platform enables retailers to bulk import and export items; set up product variations, bundles and promotions; and feature products by brand or collection. Additionally, the solution provides a marketing suite, including SEO optimization, social sharing and a built-in blogging platform.

Lightspeed eCom supports sales in 14 languages and all currencies, and can manage inventory, product setup and currencies across languages. The solution integrates with international payments providers and automatically calculates international tax.

“With the industry rapidly digitizing, online-only merchant demand has grown exponentially,” said Dax Dasilva, CEO of Lightspeed POS. “Bringing SEOshop into the Lightspeed family gives us additional scale, and allows us to help store owners create a global shopping experience and sell smarter — all from an iPad — no matter how their customers choose to shop.”

With the acquisition of SEOshop, Lightspeed POS now serves 34,000 businesses in more than 100 countries, processing $12 billion in annual transactions.

As part of the deal, SEOshop CEO Ruud Stelder will join the Lightspeed leadership team as Director of Global E-Commerce Revenue, and CTO Dennis Cuijpers will become Lightspeed’s Director of E-Commerce Development and Architecture.
