AT&T And IBM Partner To Release New E-Commerce Solution

AT&T today announced a partnership with IBM to offer retailers an e-Commerce solution designed to provide consumers with a consistent shopping experience.

The new tool will combine the AT&T cloud, application management and network services with the IBM Smarter Commerce e-Commerce software into a single, subscription-based packaged for retailers.

The collaboration extends the IBM Commerce on Cloud capabilities for online and omnichannel sales to the AT&T Cloud, according to an AT&T press release.

Some of the benefits of the affiliation include:

  • The ability to quickly and efficiently scale up web site and application hosting to meet promotional and seasonal needs, without making additional capital investment;
  • Enhanced network and application security, availability, and performance with hosting and application management from AT&T;
  • Increased speed to market via the integrated, pre-tested ‘starter store’ option; and
  • Integration with other AT&T digital media, network, security, mobility and cloud solutions, such as digital signage and in-store Wi-Fi.

The collaboration between AT&T and IBM will offer retailers a one-stop-shop for all e-Commerce technology needs, according to Steve Caniano, VP of Cloud Solutions at AT&T Business Solutions. In addition, the partnership will help retailers “realize online sales growth and improve customer service.”
