Barneys New York, a luxury retailer with flagship stores in several major U.S. cities, has selected the Infinea Tab solution to enable retail associates to conduct customer checkout from anywhere in the stores.
Infinea Tab, from Infinite Peripherals, adds a 1D or 2D barcode scanner and magnetic stripe reader to an Apple iPad 2. In conjunction with a POS software application, the handheld can accept signatures and wirelessly print or email receipts. In addition, Infinea Tab can conduct inventory operations and corporate communications as well as access the Internet and Intranet.
The new solution gives Barneys “a greater level of interaction” between customers and associates, said Artie Byrne, Financial and Store Systems Director at Barneys New York, and “enables Barneys to move cash wraps from the floor, opening up space for more merchandise.”
