Bioworld Streamlines Product Development and Production with New PLM Solution

Bioworld Centric PLM

Bioworld, a global manufacturer of pop-culture apparel and accessories, has implemented the Centric Software Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solution, Centric 8 PLM, to manage development and production of the thousands of products it creates every year.

Founded in 1999, Bioworld deals primarily in licensed goods, featuring a range of big-name brands including Star Wars, Disney and Animal Crossing. The complexity of dealing with a large number of products and categories across a variety of retail channels, including B2B, direct-to-consumer and Amazon, is what led the company to seek out a PLM solution.

“We manage tens of thousands of unique products every year from a development and also from a production standpoint,” said Nathan Grant, VP of Creative at Bioworld in a statement. “We have to track the progress of each product from inception to production to retail throughout the development life cycle, while also managing our clients’ approvals and changes. The volume of products and approval process adds to the complexity of our operations. What we really want from Centric PLM is speed—and being able to bring the right products to market.”

Since implementing Centric 8 PLM, the Bioworld team has been able to streamline its operations and test out new processes without impacting production.

“Everything from design to tech packs and building BOMs [bills of materials], sampling, merchandise and line planning, is a lot more efficient than before. The ‘one source of the truth’ is key,” said Patrick Flanagan, Director of IT at Bioworld in a statement.
