Bowling Alley? Chuck E. Cheese? Nah, Let’s Have the Kid’s Party at Lowe’s

Hosting a kid’s birthday party at a home improvement retailer might seem like the actions of a particularly clueless sitcom dad, but it’s about to become a reality — and a fun one at that. Lowe’s will pilot Build A Birthday, an immersive environment where young do-it-yourselfers can celebrate with their family and friends, in 10 stores around the country.

Building on its longstanding monthly kids’ workshops, the Build A Birthday parties will include DIY project kits for attendees to build wooden castles, race cars, custom wall shelves and other creations. Packages begin at $349 for 12 seats, with add-ons like food from Domino’s and Lowe’s party favors available. To promote the new offering, the retailer is offering a $100 Lowe’s gift card to the first 50 parties booked.

“Home improvement is about the whole family and that’s why we have Weekending at Lowe’s events every Saturday at our stores, including our kids’ workshops that help us feel connected to our littlest DIYers,” said Jen Wilson, SVP, Enterprise Brand and Marketing at Lowe’s in a statement. “This launch is a natural extension of that relationship. Not only do we want to inspire future builders, but we want DIY — and Lowe’s — to be an integral part of family milestones and memories.”

The Build A Birthday packages include safety goggles, aprons and party construction hats, and each two-hour experience will be led by a Lowe’s Red Vest Party Captain to help kids get practical, hands-on knowledge in a fun environment. The parties are offered for kids aged five and up and will be held on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at Lowe’s stores in:
