MEF joins ASC X9 To Develop Mobile Commerce Advancement Standards

Mobile Entertainment Forum (MEF), a mobile media organization focused on mobile commerce, and ASC X9, the U.S. technical group that develops financial industry standards, announced a partnership to develop privacy and security standards for M-commerce. MEF’s M-commerce initiative is aimed at bringing brands, financial institutions, content owners/producers, carriers and retailers together to create transparency and increase consumer confidence in mobile transactions.

“Last year we worked with our membership to produce an essential Guide to M-commerce,” said Gary Schwartz, MEF North America Chair and CEO, Impact Mobile. “This second phase of our initiative will see MEF working with ASC X9’s F4 working group on Security in developing a mobile commerce standard which addresses the most pressing issues affecting its adoption.” A launch webinar will be held May 24, 2011 to explore the importance of security to the growth of M-commerce and outline the partnership details.
