Tyco Retail Solutions has opened an office in Tokyo to support the accelerating demand for RFID and store performance solutions in Japan.
More Japan-based multinational retailers are expanding in other Asian markets, and these retailers are seeking upgrades to their technology. Retail sales in Asia are expected to reach $10 trillion in U.S. dollars by 2018, so Tyco is looking to get in on the action early.
In addition, with Frost & Sullivan predicting that yearly RFID revenue will reach as high as $5.4 billion in 2020, and Gartner forecasting 25 billion Internet-connected things by that time, Tyco appears set to take advantage of two technology markets that are still gaining plenty of traction in retail stores.
