Walmart Will Open Clinic That Offers Primary Care And Mental Care

Walmart is deepening its investment into the primary care market with the launch of a clinic called Walmart Health in Dallas, Ga., according to CNBC. The facility will include both primary care and counseling services, and will be located in a separate building from the Walmart next door to increase privacy.

The clinic includes a full suite of health care options such as primary care, dental, counseling, labs, X-rays and audiology. The facility also has on-site health providers to offer consultations, immunizations and lab tests, people familiar with the matter told CNBC.

While Walmart hasn’t confirmed all the details regarding the clinic, the retailer has acknowledged that the concept does exist. The facility opens Sept. 13, and patients can already set up appointments at walmarthealth.com.

“Walmart is committed to making healthcare more affordable and accessible for customers in the communities we serve,” said a Walmart representative in an interview with CNBC. “The new Walmart Health center in our Dallas, Georgia, store will provide low, transparent pricing for key health services for local customers. We look forward to sharing more details when the facility opens next month.”

Walmart already offers pharmacy services at almost all 4,700 U.S. locations, and its health and wellness operation brought in approximately $332 billion in fiscal 2018. Walmart also made several health care-related moves recently, such as discussing a potential acquisition of PillPack (which was ultimately bought by Amazon) and launching an e-Commerce pet pharmacy alongside dozens of in-store pet clinics.
