Following the successful debut of its initial large-format store in the Chicago suburb of Wilmette, Ill. in May 2024, Wayfair will open its second large-format store next year in Atlanta. The 150,000-square-foot space, located within the District at Howell Mill shopping center in Atlanta’s Upper Westside neighborhood, will offer furniture, home décor, housewares, appliances and home improvement essentials.
Many of these items will be available for customers to take home, and for larger items like sofas, the new store’s proximity to the Wayfair fulfillment center in McDonough, Ga. will expedite deliveries.
“We are thrilled to bring this one-of-a-kind shopping experience to the Atlanta metro area,” said Liza Lefkowski, VP of Merchandising and Stores at Wayfair in a statement. “We will offer customers an extensive selection for all styles and budgets, with our vast catalog brought to life in an inspiring and easy-to-navigate shopping experience that makes discovering the perfect piece effortless.”
Wayfair credits the Wilmette store with a nice sales bump, noting that following the store’s opening, contributing sales from the state of Illinois grew more than 15% faster than the U.S. overall through the end of 2024.
