Foot Locker Adds COO and Strategy, Innovation and Development Chief Roles

Foot Locker has promoted its current EVP and CEO-North America, Franklin Bracken, to be the retailer’s first-ever COO. The apparel retailer also has created a new Chief Strategy, Innovation and Development Officer role and begun a search for someone to fill the position. The eventual hire will report to Foot Locker Chairman and CEO Richard A. Johnson.

Additionally, Susan Kuhn, SVP and General Manager for Foot Locker Europe, has been promoted to President-EMEA and General Manager-Foot Locker Europe, overseeing the Foot Locker Europe and Sidestep brands and reporting to Bracken. Andrew Gray, EVP and Chief Commercial Officer, has expanded his responsibilities to include driving product leadership, elevating Foot Locker’s omnichannel marketing and accelerating customer and commercial development. He will continue to report to Johnson.

The new appointments and organizational changes are designed to emphasize Foot Locker’s focus on aligning its operations and commercial teams to drive organizational productivity, according to the company. Foot Locker expanded its global reach with the purchase of two retailers in August 2021.

“The marketplace and consumers we serve are changing dynamically, making this an ideal time to enhance an integrated omnichannel ecosystem and to strengthen our commercial capabilities,” said Johnson in a statement. “The addition of these key roles creates a more streamlined and agile organizational structure that builds on the success of our geo-focused growth strategy.”
