Tailored Brands Adds Three Retail Veterans to Executive Lineup as CEO Hunt Continues

Tailored Brands Jos A Bank

Tailored Brands — parent company of Men’s Wearhouse, Jos. A. Bank, Moores Clothing for Men and K&G Fashion Superstore — has appointed three retail veterans to its leadership team while it continues the search for a new CEO.

John Tighe has been appointed EVP and Chief Customer Officer; Karla Gray has assumed the role of EVP and Chief Stores Officer; and Tim Cooksey has joined the organization as SVP of Real Estate.

Tailored Brands emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy in late 2020, and in March 2021 the company sought and received $75 million in emergency financing to avoid a second bankruptcy. At this point the company’s board and then-CEO Dinesh Lathi agreed that it was time “to re-evaluate the skills and experiences needed in the CEO role,” according to a Tailored Brands press release. Lathi stepped down as President and CEO of Tailored Brands that same month. Board members Bob Hull and Peter Sachse stepped in as Interim Co-CEOs while the board searched for a permanent successor.

“Our continued success depends on our ability to deeply understand our customers’ needs and preferences, so we can show up strong where and how they need us, in all the moments that matter,” said Sachse in a statement. “We are confident the appointment of these three distinguished leaders will allow us to fulfill this promise, accelerate our strategies and achieve our full potential.”

“The experience these three leaders bring to the business will further accelerate our success – particularly when combined with their energy, commitment and strong focus on developing high-performing teams,” added Hull in a statement.

Tighe joins Tailored Brands after most recently serving as President of men’s and boys’ tailored clothing brand Peerless Clothing. Prior to Peerless, Tighe held various leadership positions at JCPenney, most recently as Chief Merchant and EVP.

Gray has three decades of retail experience, including 16 years at Nike where she most recently was the VP and GM of the North America Nike Factory Store business. Prior to Nike, Gray spent 14 years at Gap.

Cooksey, who will manage the real estate portfolio and oversee store development, maintenance and facilities, has more than three decades of experience and comes to Tailored Brands following 15 years at Lowe’s, where he most recently served as SVP of Real Estate and Enterprise Strategic Sourcing.
