Mercatus, a provider of digital grocery solutions, has unveiled Dispatch, a last mile delivery capability designed to enable grocers to maintain control of their customers’ shopping journey and establish consistency within their branded web site and mobile experience.
Retailers using Mercatus Dispatch can enable their staff to manage order fulfillment through a streamlined three-step picking process, without having to invest more technology resources in their own infrastructure:
- Enable a delivery option at checkout within the web site and/or app;
- Have the team prepare the order for pickup in-store by using a “picker” app; and
- Process payment and hand off the groceries to independent delivery professionals from DoorDash and Shipt.
The handoff occurs after payment reconciliation, ensuring the accuracy of order value even when substitutions and omissions are required. Additionally, the delivery partners carry items under the retailer’s name to create a consistent purchasing experience for shoppers.
