Millennials, now aged 24 to 39, have surpassed Baby Boomers as the largest generation of Americans. Marketers want their attention and are blasting emails in their direction, but 74% of millennials say they receive too many emails, and 70% are bothered by irrelevant ones. However, emails that are well-paced — only one to three per month — and personalized have a better chance of breaking through.
Millennials say their three favorite types of email content are:
- Sale notifications for items left in online shopping carts;
- Sale notifications for previously browsed items or categories; and
- Recommended products based on their interests.
