70% of Millennials Dislike Irrelevant Emails

Millennials, now aged 24 to 39, have surpassed Baby Boomers as the largest generation of Americans. Marketers want their attention and are blasting emails in their direction, but 74% of millennials say they receive too many emails, and 70% are bothered by irrelevant ones. However, emails that are well-paced — only one to three per month — and personalized have a better chance of breaking through.

Millennials say their three favorite types of email content are:

  • Sale notifications for items left in online shopping carts;
  • Sale notifications for previously browsed items or categories; and
  • Recommended products based on their interests.
