When it comes to online marketplaces, Amazon is no longer the only game in town. Brands looking to expand their reach online are increasingly turning to alternate third-party marketplaces, and with good reason — the top 100 marketplaces accounted for close to $2 trillion in annual sales in 2020. Other key marketplace stats include:
- 53% of brands believe that e-marketplaces are their greatest source of future opportunity (up from 43% in 2020);
- 33% of Amazon sellers said they plan to start selling on other ecommerce platforms this year; and
- 21% of Amazon sellers are planning to open their own ecommerce store in 2021.
