Nearly Two-Thirds of Consumers Want Mobile and Contactless Pickup Options

As consumer spending changes in the COVID era, shoppers are eager to tell retailers how to meet their evolving needs. According to a global survey of 5,000 consumers, 76% want to see COVID-19 safety protocols clearly communicated in stores, 64% want mobile and contactless pickup or check-in options, and 71% want to know the availability of products before ordering online or going to a store.

Baby Boomers are less concerned with contactless pickup than their younger counterparts: only 49% of the older group want it, versus 66% to 71% among Generations X, Y and Z. A larger percentage of women (69%) than men (60%) seek these safer options.
