Pandemic-Driven Promotions: 80% of Shoppers are Looking Harder for Deals

Shoppers respond to uncertainty by looking for ways to save. During the Great Recession, promotion redemptions rose 15.24% in 2008 and another 6.29% between 2009 and 2010, and the pandemic is fueling another wave of deal-seeking behavior.

Today, 36% of shoppers say sales and specials influence their choice of retailer and 59% say coupons affect their frequency of shopping. Additionally, 71% of shoppers say they are looking for new items — making this the perfect time to grab their attention.
