Socially Distanced Super Bowl Viewers Plan to Connect Online

AdColony Super Bowl Infographic

Feb. 7 will see a Super Bowl like no other. The stadium won’t be packed with cheering fans, in-home celebrations will be muted due to current social restrictions, and many major brands will be sitting out what is typically one of the hottest advertising opportunities of the year.

Of course, viewers will still be tuning in as the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers face off, but the couchside landscape will look a bit different this year as fans seek other ways to connect and engage during the game:

  • 14% of respondents in a recent AdColony survey said they’ll host virtual parties with family and friends;
  • A majority of respondents (70%) will still watch the big game on TV, with 25% of them watching on connected TVs;
  • Viewers plan to also be on their mobile devices texting (36%), browsing social media (35%) and playing games (29%); and
  • 43% said it was moderately or very important for them to keep up with the game on multiple devices.

For more on who will be watching the game and what they plan to do while they’re there, check out this infographic from AdColony.
