Dufry has teamed up with AR tech solution Perfect Corp. to offer in-store and web-based virtual makeup try-on for products across 15 brands.

The virtual try-on experience is now available at Dufry locations in London’s Heathrow and Stansted airports as well as airports in Manchester, UK and Barcelona, Spain. The new partners pointed to the unique restrictions on travel shopping, with customers often pressed for time, making virtual try-on an ideal solution for customers to quickly sample products.

Dufry said that it plans to bring the virtual try-on experience to “many more” airports in the future. The company reaches 2.3 billion passengers annually across its 5,500 outlets located in 1,200 airports, motorways, cruise lines, seaports and railway stations around the world.

“We have been working on this collaboration with Perfect Corp. as part of our digital strategy to revolutionize the passenger experience,” said Lee Adams, Global Digital Smart Store Head at Dufry in a statement. “This AI- and AR-powered technology forms a seamless part of the shopping journey for our passengers, helping them to easily choose the products that are perfect for them, as well as saving them time at the airport.

Perfect Corp. already works with more than 500 brands globally, making it easy for retailers to deploy these virtual try-on solutions across their points of sale, pending brand approval. Among the brands available to try on virtually at Dufry locations are Benefit, Kylie Cosmetics, Guerlain and Huda Beauty. A web-based version of the experience can be accessed on the UK Reserve & Collect website.

“Our true value for retailers is our capacity to provide hundreds of brands’ virtual SKUs to retailers wishing to engage with their consumers wherever they are,” said Alice Chang, Founder and CEO of Perfect Corp. in a statement. “We believe that by partnering with travel retailers, our personalized and interactive digital solutions for beauty and luxury products can help the post-COVID recovery of the travel sector and bring travelers the shopping experiences of the future wherever they are traveling to.”
