LocatorX, a tracking technology solution provider, has launched the Product Certificate Authority (PCA) tool to help retailers and manufacturers combat counterfeiting. The software lets enrolled companies provide the proprietary information necessary within a Certified QR Code to authenticate the legitimacy of their products.
This certification ensures that logistics and supply chain partners are shipping, receiving and delivering authentic products in whatever form they’re sent. PCA works with the LocatorX ProductScan smartphone app to authenticate the legitimacy of any products enrolled in the program.
PCA can be applied to individual units, boxes, cartons, crates or pallets, with low-cost, low-margin items tagged by unique Certified Quick Response (CQR) codes and higher-value products receiving chipped tags for added security. The technology enables brands and shoppers to track an item’s current location and follow its audit trail to the origin.
