7-Eleven Adds Mobile Wallet to its Loyalty App

7-Eleven has launched an app-based mobile wallet that will enable contactless payment at participating U.S. stores. The 7-Eleven Wallet is integrated directly into the 7-Eleven app and it lets shoppers securely load funds to use at checkout without any loading or transaction fees.

Shoppers can load their wallet using debit and credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and prepaid 7-Eleven gift cards from anywhere, and add cash to the wallet at 7-Eleven stores. Funds in the wallet can be used to pay for mobile checkout and purchases made for 7-Eleven’s fuel loyalty program in addition to standard transactions.

“7-Eleven Wallet meets the needs of customers looking for convenient, contactless ways to shop and pay during this unprecedented global pandemic,” said Joe DePinto, President and CEO of 7-Eleven in a statement. “Cash customers want to participate in the growing digital payment ecosystem. 7-Eleven Wallet gives them access to touchless payment along with deep value loyalty offers.”

The rollout of a mobile wallet will help 7-Eleven increase the convenience of contactless checkout, which has gained popularity at many retailers during the pandemic. Target recently enhanced its mobile app to let shoppers scan items with their own devices and pay with their mobile wallet, eliminating the need to pick up an in-store scanning device.
