New Diane von Furstenberg CEO to Bring Operations Back In-House

A new CEO has quietly taken the helm at Diane von Furstenberg, and under this new leadership the fashion label plans to bring its operations back in-house, multiple sources report. Since 2020, the company has outsourced its design, production, marketing and distribution to Chinese licensee Glamel.

Former Valentino, Armani and Prada executive Graziano de Boni took the helm at DVF in October 2023, and since that time has been “immersing myself into the history of DVF,” he said in a statement. “I found not only the iconic wrap dress that continues to sell after 50 years, but also a vast archive of prints and fabrics that revealed a unique and strong design vocabulary. Regaining control of the design and narrative of our brand was the first necessary step to reimagining our business model for the future.”

Von Furstenberg and de Boni announced last week that by the end of 2024 all operations for the brand will once again be managed in-house. DVF will continue to work with Glamel to distribute its brand in greater China.

Earlier this year DVF launched a highly successful limited-edition line at Target that included variations of the brand’s iconic wrap dress.
