To position themselves as the ultimate holiday shopping destinations, Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack are doubling down on helpful services, compelling brand partnerships and unique in-store shopping experiences.

“Our team is looking forward to connecting with customers, however they choose to shop – in stores or online,” said Fanya Chandler, President of Nordstrom Stores in a statement. “We know they will feel inspired by the products we’ve curated, the events we’ve created, and our best-in-class service offering to make people feel good and look their best.”

Nordstrom’s holiday offerings span channels and stores and include:

Stress-Free Services for Holiday Shoppers

Nordstrom is appealing to consumers’ need for flexible fulfillment options by spotlighting its BOPIS and shipping options. Shoppers browsing on Nordstrom.com will be able to filter product results by same-day and next-day pickup availability, and select the Nordstrom, Nordstrom Local or Nordstrom Rack store where they would like to pick up their order. Nordstrom.com also offers free shipping and returns at any store, while Nordstrom Rack will offer free shipping on most orders over $39 through November 13. Cardmembers in select markets will have access to free two-day shipping.

The department store retailer also is trying to capture the attention of gift-givers by zeroing in on services that make their lives easier. For example, shoppers will be able to chat with one of Nordstrom’s “expertly trained stylists and salespeople” on the Nordstrom app, on Nordstrom.com or via an in-person appointment, which they can schedule online. In-store shoppers can capitalize on some additional holiday perks, including gift wrapping and personalization services.

Finally, an updated mobile app experience is designed to make holiday shopping a breeze, both for those giving and receiving gifts. The Nordstrom app homepage includes a combination of personal brand and product recommendations, as well as new stylist videos and outfits to inspire shoppers. Users can also opt in to receive real-time notifications on items they’ve favorited that have restocked or gone on sale; get real-time tracking information on orders; and create and share wish lists of their must-have items.

Magical Events Throughout the Season

Holiday-themed events and activations also are core to Nordstrom’s holiday strategy. The retailer will host a series of holiday breakfasts in December that will include food, music, kids’ activities and a special appearance by Santa.

New York City will be a hub for several unique experiences. Through the holiday season Nordstrom NYC will host:

  • A pop-up restaurant developed in partnership with Edith’s, a legendary NYC deli;
  • A holiday decoration unveiling and official “welcome” to Santa;
  • Daily Santa Snow Shows, which include in-door snowfall and a special performance from a cast of performers and characters; and
  • An activation in partnership with Wollman Rink, which will include free skate days for children and a Chill Lounge for ticket purchasers.

Additionally, Nordstrom NYC is selling a limited $6,000 package for two that includes a stay at the JW Marriot Essex House, tickets to Some Like it Hot on Broadway, an exclusive dining experience at Carbone, appointments at Nordstrom’s Beauty Haven salon and more.

Beyond these holiday-themed events, Nordstrom is partnering with Disney and Swarovski to offer bespoke retail experiences in stores. These shop-in-shops are designed to feature unique gifts and collectibles that span product categories.
